ARTIST STATEMENT
My primary interest is in portraiture with an emphasis on capturing the essence or spirit of the subject. The portraits or “Faces” range from a minimalist style to a more traditional, painterly treatment of the face. I sometimes use beeswax over the portrait which creates and interesting texture and can give an ethereal aspect to the painting. I enjoy capturing the many beautiful faces of different cultures, children, and the elderly.
I also enjoy exploring still life and endless possibilities to represent the beautiful and special objects in our lives.

The best advice I have ever gotten as an artist is “Paint what you love.”
