Sandy studied art at Carnegie Mellon University and graduated in painting from Rhode Island School of Design. She was a member of the RISD European Honors Program, Rome, Italy. And served as illustrator for Brown University’s Archaeological Expedition, Certosa de San Lorenzo, Padula, Italy. 39
Also she illustrated A Catalogue of Classical Vases for the Museum of Art, Rhode Island School of Design and A Marine Atlas of the Atlantic Coast for Duke University Marine Laboratory, Beaufort, NC.
She has attended Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture and studied printmaking at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC and Il Bisonte in Florence, Italy
She has exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Winston Salem, NC; Woods Gerry Mansion, Providence, RI; Palazzo Cenci, Rome, Italy; Bromfield Gallery, Boston MA and Studio 412, Boston, MA.
