Marcia Wise’s paintings of abstracted landscapes, as well as her more abstract pieces, evoke the powerful emotional reactions that aspects of nature stir within her. She describes her work as honest peeks into her inner relationship with the world, and her desire that others experience her unique view as joyous. Her process is a passionate trial of color placement, color relationships, light effects, introspection, form and pattern manipulation, and textural play.

Wise received formal training from L’Ecole Nationale Superieure Des Beaux-Arts, France, Art Institute of Boston, MA, and Boston University, MA. She has lived and worked across the US, in Europe and the Middle East. In addition to teaching private students and small groups, she continues to facilitate “Artists Trips” in the US and abroad, taking small groups of painters to Tuscany, Italy and Santa Fe, NM each year. Having concentrated on murals and trompe l’oeil painting in her earlier career, Wise’s oil paintings are now distinguished in such exhibitions as with the San Francisco Art Show, CA, Lincoln Center Art Show, gallery exhibitions in California, Delaware, Santa Fe, NM, and University of Massachusetts, Amherst, MA. She lives and works from her studio in Norfolk, MA, and in her Boston studio at 450 Harrison Avenue, Studio #408, Boston, MA.

Recent local exhibitions include a solo show at Fountain Street Gallery in SoWa, as well as in a group show, “Breaking The Rules,” at Fountain Street Gallery, 460C Harrison Ave, Boston.
