Julia Purdy
450 Harrison Ave., studio 318
Julia Purdy is an artist working in the SoWa Art + Design district in Boston’s South End. Her paintings originate in clairvoyance - images and compositions come to her when her mind is in a meditative state, well before engaging with the canvas. She see a picture of the artwork - the colors, composition and all other elements of the painting in her mind before she picks up a paintbrush.
Her paintings explore ideas related to connections - our connection to oneself, each other, as well as our connection to the environment. White is an important color in her work. It represents white light - the positive light, love, hope, peace and spirit within us.
Her paintings can be found in collections across the United States. She is a member of the SoWa Artists Guild, Cambridge Art Association, and the United South End Artists.
